Russell Westbrook story behind his custom pair With the Latest Jordans

Russell Westbrook is very particular with his sneakers. So particular, in fact, that he had Jordan Brand remake its latest signature shoe to better suit him. In a profile on the OKC Thunder point guard at the New York Times Magazine, the team's equipment manager relayed a story about the Air Jordan 31.
Apparently Westbrook wasn't feeling the level of flexibility offered by the sole, and asked for an updated version of the Air Jordan 31 using the sole of the Air Jordan 30. He got what he wanted too, and has been playing in a hybrid design since October. The equipment manager, Wilson Taylor, gives Russell  Westbrook Shoes a different layer of cushioning by switching out the insoles by hand.
While it's pretty standard for NBA players to use custom insoles, it's another thing entirely for a player to request a remake of a new signature shoe like this.
The Air Jordan 30 and the Air Jordan 31 feature similar tech in their soles, using Flightspeed and Zoom Air cushioning. The designs on bottom are different though, with the 30's being decoupled while the New Jordan 31 has a flatter, more standard ride.
2017 Best Shoes:Air Jordan 31 'Chicago Bulls' Sneakerheads will likely agree that Jordan Brand has dropped the Air Jordan 31 in some of the cleanest colorways. Jordan Brand has added yet another installment to the ever-growing Air Jordan 31 line with this brand new Chicago Bulls-inspired rendition. As can be seen, the leather and woven uppers of the sneaker are predominantly clean White, topped off with Black-colored accents all over. Most noticeably, these include the dispersed pattern over the toe boxes and the large Jordan “Jumpman” logo on the sides. The Flywire, gradient midsoles and insole branding also feature hits of Red. Adding the finishing signature touch, Black-colored fading Nike “Swoosh” logos can also be spotted on the sides.

Russell Westbrook's wear jordan 31 why not recorded his 42nd triple-double

Today, Russell Westbrook really did it. against the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook not only recorded his 42nd triple-double of the season, but he hit a game-winning 35-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to give him 50 points. Westbrook passes the previous mark set by Oscar Robertson in the 1961-62 season.Westbrook finally had his chance to prove that he was one of the NBA’s premier stars, and he didn’t disappoint – leading an undermanned Oklahoma City Thunder team that had no business making the playoffs to a 45+ win season.
Celebrating the unlikely feat, Jordan Brand has put together a "Big O" commercial spot, paying tribute to both Westbrook and Robertson's legendary seasons with Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" as the soundtrack. Russell Westbrook wear Air Jordan 31 for Secures Triple-Double Average

When I was growing up, Oscar Robertson's triple-double season seemed mythical. Just recording a single triple-double could land a player the lead segment on Sports Center or partially inspire one of the greatest hip hop songs ever recorded. LeBron James, the greatest all-around player of my time, has made a career out of stuffing the stat sheet, but never came close to threatening the Big O's single season mark. Then, Russell Westbrook happened.
With a personal motto of  Air Jordan xxx1 "Why Not?" and his former running mate now playing for a rival, Westbrook entered the season like he had something to prove. After letting the world know that he now does what he wants, the Brodie put unprecedented numbers on the boards. Month by month, his triple-double average held up, sparking a conversation that many thought would never be possible. On Tuesday, Westbrook tied Robertson with 41 triple-doubles in a season, but there was still business to take care of in last night's game against the Phoenix Suns.
Westbrook needed 6 assists to clinch a triple-double average for the season, a feat unseen since 1961-62. Early in the third quarter, he hit Victor Oladipo for a fast break layup to make things official.
Russell Westbrook made history in his soon-to-release "Why Not?" Air Jordan 31 PE. Shortly after the game, Jordan Brand confirmed an Apr. 29 release date for the elephant print accented sneakers.
The only piece of history left for Westbrook now is to pass Robertson for most triple-doubles in a season. Oklahoma City has three games left, beginning with a trip to Denver tomorrow night.
This Air Jordan XXX1 Why Not features a Black upper with elephant print wrapping the heel which has a ‘Black Cement’ Air Jordan 3 feel to them. In addition we have hints of Orange and Blue on the Flywire cables, liner and around the collar that is a tribute to the OKC Thunder. The midsole which is done in White is taken from the Air Jordan XXX which also features a small galaxy window. Finishing the look is a translucent outsole with ‘Why’ and ‘Not?’.
