 Procure a nut, having a small thread that will admit the size of the wire to be used in making the spring. Cut a small notch to the depth of the thread where the thread starts, and procure a smooth rod that will pass snugly through the threads of the nut. Shape one end of the rod to fit a carpenter's brace, if there is no drill chuck at hand, and drill a hole in the other end to admit one end of the spring wire.

A compression Coil spring is an open coil helical spring that offers resistance to compressive force applied axially. Compression springs are commonly coiled as a constant diameter cylinder, below are several types of compression springs including: conical compression springs,concave compression springs,convex compression springs These are used individually or in conjunction with each other. Round wire is predominant in compression springs because it is readily available and adaptable to standard coiler tooling. Compression springs should be stress relieved to remove residual forming stresses produced by the coiling operation. Can say that the price is suprisingly low and the service is great. I do pack them after every 1-2 k with Lucus Xtra heavy duty grease (dino)

I found a hard to find part, ordered it on a Sunday, and got an e-mail message the same day telling me it was being shipped out that same day. Can you beat that? I then ordered some additional parts (on the following Sunday) and got a call (a couple of days later) telling me that the parts were not in stock, but would be in stock shortly. When I explained that the parts were going to arrive too late, arrangements were made to have the supplier ship directly to me. Not only that, but the parts arrived the NEXT DAY! And I thought good old customer service was dead. As to the parts, I don't know leaf springs. These were pictured in Black and came in in Black. They were supposed to be 3- leaf springs, and they came in 3-leaf springs. They were supposed to 20 1/4" and they came in 20 1/4". They are leafy and springy. So, I guess they are good. But, don't forget about the customer service! Amazing! After reading the suggestions for a great review, I guess that I should ass that the springs are going on a trailer. There, did I do it right?

NUP Series - Are single row cylindrical roller bearings and have two fixed ribs on the outer ring and, on the inner ring, a fixed rib and a support washer. This way they can be used as locating bearings, guiding the shaft axially in both directions.
RNU Series - Are single row cylindrical roller bearings and have two fixed ribs on the outer ring and has no inner ring. Instead, it uses the shaft as the opposing raceway.
NF Series - Also able to carry incidental thrust loads, this bearing type features two integral ribs on the inner ring and a single rib on the outer ring.

  • Leaves are properly aligned to one another, both laterally and vertically.\
  • No excessive gaps between leaves and no excessive scaling on the top leaf.
  • Coated with corrosion protection.
  • Leaf Spring leaves must be properly stepped for the most efficient load carrying weight ratios. If the leaves are the same thickness, the steps should be equal.

Here's how we make them... 
        
We start with flat bars of top-quality high-carbon spring steel. Tinmy Spring's start-to-finish custom process allows us to choose varied width, thickness and flex characteristics according to customer needs.  A leaf spring pack often contains two or more different leaf thicknesses.
      
After we cut the flat spring-steel bars to length, a special furnace heats the main-leaf ends red hot. Then we roll the eyes using precise dies. The gray furnace scale falls away as the heat strengthens and tempers the steel.   
   
   
The heat-treatment process is very important in controlling the consistency of the spring pack's strength and durability. And the hands-on process means that every leaf is constantly inspected for quality.

Every pair of Tinmy Springs is made to match in every way, right down to the shaping of the leaves, to putting them together, and even to the final painting.  
   
Tinmy Springs can be made with tough military wrap eyes (left) and bolted keepers for hardcore, super-flexy applications.
And all Tinmy Springs feature diamond-cut leaves and Derlin anti-friction pads between the leaves.
   
At Tinmy Spring, we use only top-quality Prothane poly bushings.  And we can make custom U-bolts in any size and shape you need and trailer leaf springs

Tinmy  Leaf Springs are designed as a superior replacement part for mass-produced O.E (Original Equipment) Trailer leaf springs.
Tinmy offer a vast range of semi elliptic leaf springs to satisfy popular ride height variations and load carrying capabilities. Tinmy leaf springs have the outstanding characteristics of not only acting as a spring, to resiliently support the vehicle, but also serve to position the axle, dampen vertical deflection and cushion both driving torque and brake reaction. Tinmy leaf springs are manufactured to the highest standard from Australian Made OneSteel micro alloy steel.
All Leaf springs are cambered on in-house designed and manufactured machines before being assembled, rate tested and inspected. All leaf springs are enamel dipped in Tinmy Navy Blue ready for dispatch.

Installation Tips
Check your leaf spring selection to ensure you have the correct spring for your intended application. When fitting, the Military Wrap end of the leaf spring is always fitted to the fixed pin chassis mount point. (exception: Nissan MQ Patrol). Some Tinmy leaf springs are marked D/S (Drivers Side) and P/S (Passenger Side). If springs are not marked, a quick way to distinguish between the two is: turn them up and rest on spring eyes along side each other. Push down in the centre of each to settle free camber, and pick the highest of the pair. The higher free camber spring is fitted to the drivers side of the vehicle. This is to offset the weight of the driver in many cases. It is also advisable to check center-bolts on spring before installation. New high tensile Tinmy  U-Bolts and deep nuts must be used when fitting Tinmy  leaf springs.
IMPORTANT: U-Bolts must be checked regularly and re-tensioned for maximum leaf spring life. After fitment of Tinmy  leaf springs, U-bolts must be re-tensioned after 500km with vehicle fully laden. Failure to do so may void Tinmy leaf spring warranty. Tinmy recommend all U-bolts be checked regularly (at normal service intervals) and re-tensioned if required. Torque settings are available upon request.
